the art of forgetful-ness

Today was a frantic one. maybe not this morning necessarily but I had to pack a suitcase later on in the day and I will let you know the essential item I have forgotten on this little journey of mine in a future post. I always seem to forget something - certain items are more annoying to leave behind than others. A toothbrush for example. People always seem to have spare toothbrushes lying around but as soon as you aren't equipped with yours, toothbrushes in your visitor's abode are NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. It's like they've hidden them especially for their own amusement. And so you have to make do with your finger and some toothpaste (borrowed, most likely you also forgot this. if you just brought toothpaste with no brush, all I can say is "Wow").
Clothes aren't too much of a problem, say if you have one less outfit than needed. You can rewear clothes from the day before to an extent. Unless you have set off without any clothes in your bag and all you have is the outfit you're sporting on your departure. Also "Wow".
I imagine most people would be lost without their phone these days (except you lucky people who have managed to remain immune to their powerful ways). All is not lost!! This is where phone boxes come in. You know, those iconic red 3-D rectangles with doors that have existed for YEARS and actually do still work, despite the public's general ignorance towards them. I've decided I'm going to use a phone box this year, it shall happen. They will never know it is me, muahahha. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is if you haven't got your phone and neeeeeed to contact someone desperately then track down a phone box or kindly ask someone nearby if they'd let you use their phone. I admit I did this once and was nervous as hell that they would run off with it in the end but my faith in strangers proved right, this time. If you don't feel comfortable asking a passer by, why not find the nearest store/shop and ask to use their land-line?

Of course some hotels are extra kind these days and can provide you with a little bag of necessities/goodies, including a toothbrush, for a small fee. Yaaaay, thank you hotels - yours gratefully, sleeping humans. Hotels are so great - but I'll get into my love of them some other time or your eyes may get tired. Sadly I don't think they provide mobile phones in the goodie bags. D'oh.

Pretty sure I have all the items I've mentioned, so chances are I'll have left something else behind. My dignity, I hear you say? No...
